World Tour
The greatest rock bands often hit the road and go on tour around the world. They usually go when their new release gets on the shelves of the music stores and they want to show it to their fans. It sounds as simple as that, but there is a lot more to it.
There is a group of people whose responsibility is to make it possible for the musicians to just go on stage and entertain the audience and party. The manager of the band must prepare everything in advance so that each gig can work out perfectly. His work is helped by many people, for example the roadies whose job is to build the stage, to place the amplifiers in their places, to hang the spotlights, and at the end of the show to dismount all these. The sound engineer is also a great help since his competence secures the band's good sounding. The technicians prepare and repair the instruments night-after-night.
The fans, after buying the tickets at the ticket office, enter the arena and wait for the rock stars to appear. However, they have to wait a bit longer while the opening band is on the boards. When they are finished it is times for the headliners to take their places on the stage. The drummer sits behind his drum kit, the guitarist takes his guitar, the bass guitar is in the hands of the bass player, and the singer grabs the microphone. The fans sing the lyrics of the hits along with the singer. They are headbanging while the guitar-player plays his solo, and they demand more when the band goes backstage to have a bit of a rest.
After a couple of minutes the group returns to give an encore. The audience is very happy, the band enjoys playing for them, and everyone goes home satisfied when the show is over.
